Mr. Brad Burl will serve as the founding Principal of Pine Bluff Lighthouse Charter School and will begin in January 2011. Mr. Burl presently serves on the School Leadership Team at Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School as the Director of School Culture. He also serves as the school’s Pathwise Director. He was a Founding Teacher and Leader for Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School.
Mr. Burl holds a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Art Design from Arkansas Tech University. Mr. Burl is also a reservist for the USAF and is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Airman Leadership School. Mr. Burl has been educator for seven years. He taught in the North Little Rock School District for five years prior to joining the Jacksonville staff.
Mr. Burl will work directly with Dr. Phillis N. Anderson, Vice President of the Southern Region for Lighthouse Academies.
Pine Bluff Lighthouse Charter School will be a part of the Lighthouse Academies network. Lighthouse Academies, Inc. (LHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops and supports the operations of public charter schools in underserved communities throughout the United States. LHA distinguishes itself by forming a family of schools that use an arts-infused, K-12 college prep program to generate fantastic results fueled by hard work and requiring only the funding provided by law.
The mission is to prepare students for college through a rigorous arts-infused program. The vision is that all students will be taught by a highly effective teacher in a nurturing environment and will achieve at high levels. Each student will develop the knowledge, skills and values necessary for responsible citizenship and lifelong learning. The impact of our collective efforts will fundamentally change public education.
