Announcements

BLCS is taking part in the Title IID Technology Professional Development Grant, a project, funded through a grant created by the No Child Left behind Act, written by Dr. Kathleen P. King in collaboration with representatives of the office of Laura Rodriguez, the Superintendent of Region 2, was directed by Dr. Steven D’Agustino and provided professional development to nearly 500 public and non–public school teachers.

Principal, Lower Academy

Meghan Kimpton

Meghan Kimpton
Ms. Kimpton has been an educator for more than 10 years. Most recently she served as the Director of Instruction for the Lower Academy at BLCS. Before coming to BLCS, she taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades in Minneapolis and Chicago and served on the building leadership team. She has also worked for organizations that use brain research to provide academic support for struggling students. She earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University.
Principal, Upper Academy

Richard Burke

After working in politics and the business world, Rick started teaching in 1995 and then moved into school leadership. He has served as Principal, Executive Director, Chief Instructional Officer, and Chief Operating Officer at St. Aloysius School, The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning, and Ross Global Academy Charter School. Rick earned his BS in Finance from Georgetown University and Masters in Education from Pepperdine University.

Selina Collins

Selena Collins
Mrs. Collins has taught for more than six years and is entering her fourth year at Bronx Lighthouse. She holds a M.S. in Teaching from Pace University, a Masters in Public Health from Hunter College, and Advanced Certification in Educational Leadership. She has taught General Education and Special Education classes in schools throughout the Bronx. Mrs. Collins is committed to closing the achievement gap in urban communities and takes pleasure in creating structures and strategies that promote the most effective teaching.

Dianne Hardcastle

Diane Hardcastle
Ms. Hardcastle taught Special Education and served as the Special Education Liaison in Philadelphia as a member of Teach For America. Most recently, she worked for Uncommon Schools, serving as a Math Specialist at Excellence Boys Charter School and then at North Star Academy as the Director of College Placement. As the Director of College Placement, Dianne ensured 100% of graduating students enrolled into a 4-year college, including the school’s first ever enrollment into an Ivy-League school. Ms. Hardcastle earned her BA in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University and her MEd in Elementary and Special Education from Chestnut Hill College.
