Principal

Lakisha Thigpen

For the past two years, Ms. Thigpen has worked at Bronzeville Lighthouse Academy as the Director of Student Services providing exceptional services to all scholars within the school. During her tenure at Bronzeville she has created protocols for student services, hosted parent workshops and established one of the most successful diverse learning programs in the city. Ms. Thigpen came to Bronzeville with 17 years of experience in the Chicago Public School System. She was part of the Common Core Unpacking Project led by Network chiefs and curriculum specialist from DePaul University to align curriculum to the Common Core State Standards. While with Chicago Public Schools, Ms. Thigpen served as assistant principal, city-wide professional development leader, in-school instructional coach, new teacher mentor and learning behavior specialist. She is also a Certified GED instructor and provides academic tutoring to parents seeking to gain their GED. Ms. Thigpen is a graduate from Chicago State University and has earned her BS in Special Education as well as a MA in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction. She has a Type 03, 09 and 75, allowing her to service learners from birth to 21 years of age, with endorsements in Mathematics, Social Science, Mental Retardation and Learning Behavior Specialist. She is also Illinois State Board of Education REACH teacher evaluation approved. Ms. Thigpen is an advocate for educational equality and has dedicated herself to bring strong instructional leaders, innovative classroom teachers and creative programming to Chicago Lighthouse Charter School.

Tiffoney Kadiri

Ms. Kadiri joined the Bronzeville Lighthouse Team in 2014. During her time at Bronzeville, she has built an excellent relationship with scholars, parents, and staff. She has worked in every aspect of what Bronzeville embodies, from discipline to office administration to assisting our social work and diverse learning team with providing stellar services to our scholars. As the Director of School Operations, Ms. Kadiri oversees financial planning and management, in-house HR-related issues, and day-to-day financial and business operations for Bronzeville Lighthouse. Before joining BZLCS, Ms. Kadiri worked in Healthcare, counseling, social services and operations at various not-for-profits organizations throughout the city of Chicago. Ms. Kadiri has mentored several inner city youth in the areas of life skill-building, education, sex education, mental health, and substance abuse. She also, worked with ex-offender youth providing case management and helping them to obtain their GED and enter the workforce. She comes to the team with 17 years of experience with youth and the passion to make a difference in each of our scholar’s lives. Ms. Kadiri holds a M.B.A from Keller Graduate School of Management, a M.S. in Not-for-Profit Management/Human Services Administration from Spertus College, and a B.S. in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She is currently working on her national HR certification.
Director of Teacher Leadership

Michael Onofrio

With over 20 years of experience working in urban education Mr. Onofrio brings a passion and commitment to what he believes is the most important work we can do; educate and engage our youth. Mr. Onofrio comes to Bronzeville with 12 years of experience as an administrator with Chicago Public Schools. During his tenure at CPS he was instrumental in improving school culture by building systems that support all scholars, developing curricula around social emotional learning standards and providing instructional leadership and coaching models to support the challenging work of our teachers. Before his work as an administrator, Mr. Onofrio worked as a teacher, social worker and community organizer. Through this work, Mr. Onofrio wrote grants for community engagement activities, built GED and computer literacy programs for parents and community members and designed an experiential learning curriculum for diverse learners. Mr. Onofrio holds two Masters degrees, from Washington University, in St. Louis and Roosevelt University in Chicago. He also holds an Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License and is designated, by the state, as a REACH teacher evaluator. Mr. Onofrio is a strong advocate for improving outcomes for children and families and has dedicated his career to helping students succeed, teachers excel, and communities thrive.
