At Lighthouse College Preparatory Academies (CPA), we make an extraordinary promise: if a scholar graduates from our College Prep Academy, he/she will be admitted to a four year college or university.  We keep that promise, through rigorous standards and an arts-infused curriculum that prepares students academically, socially and culturally for success in college – and beyond.

    Which Lighthouse school will crown the most division champions? Come out to cheer on teams, watch the Gary CPA cheerleaders and enjoy concessions to raise money for a Gary CPA gymnasium! First games start at 10am!

Principal

Chrissy Hart

Chrissy Hart
Ms. Hart taught math and science for six years in Washington D.C. and in Chicago, including serving as a member of a Teach For America. She served as Director of KIPP to College in Chicago at KIPP Ascend Charter School in Chicago. In 2003, Ms. Hart was awarded Teacher of the Year at KIPP DC: Key Academy. In 2004, she won the Kinder Award for Excellence in Teaching. Ms. Hart holds a BS from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Electrical Engineering and a M.A.T. in Secondary Education from The American University.
Director of Instruction

Katie Kirley

Ms. Kirley is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where she was Pre-Med majoring in Psychology and Women’s, as well as member of the women’s basketball team. After graduation, Kirley joined Teach for America and Gary Lighthouse where she taught 7th grade math and science. She continued teaching math for three years to 7th-9th graders, earning the Network Top Gainer award for consecutive years. Now at the College Prep Academy in the Director of Instruction role, Kirley also coaches the varsity girls basketball team. She is currently working towards a masters in Public School Leadership at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
Director of College Transitions

Kristi Spears

Ms. Spears is a graduate of DePauw University where she was a French major, education minor, and a member of the Cross Country team. Upon graduation, Ms. Spears joined Teach For America as a 2003 Newark Corps Member. Since then, she has taught middle school and high school students in Chicago and has been at Gary Lighthouse College Prep Academy for the last four years. In addition to her current role, Ms. Spears is the Boys and Girls Cross Country coach.
