Rachel Wagner

Mrs. Rachel Wagner is the principal of North point Lighthouse. Mrs. Wagner began her career as a Special Education Teacher in Barstow, California after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Mrs. Wagner taught prekindergarten through eighth grade. Currently enrolled in Cardinal Stritch University, Mrs. Wagner plans to receive her Master’s Degree in Education/Director of Special Education.
Assistant Principal and Director of Teacher Leadership

Lalenunat Johnson

Lalenunat M. Johnson is the Assistant Principal and Director of Teacher Leadership at the North Point Lighthouse Charter School in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Here she provides curriculum support and guidance in teacher growth and development. Lalenunat Johnson has over 14 years of experience in elementary and middle school education in a top performing urban school environment. She began her career in education as a volunteer then in 2003 served as an Educational Assistant and substitute teacher. She later became a full time teacher. As a teacher Mrs. Johnson has taught reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and character education. In 2006, Mrs. Johnson earned an Associate’s degree and in 2007, a Bachelors degree both in Management and Communication, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University Wisconsin. In 2011, she joined Teach for America and served two years as a corps member teacher. In 2013, she earned a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Leadership from Marquette University. Mrs. Johnson joins North Point Lighthouse as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in Education Leadership. The Woodrow Wilson Fellowship recruits and prepares outstanding leaders for schools and districts, with an integrated business and education curriculum, a focus on intensive in-school experience, and ongoing mentoring. Through this fellowship in conjunction with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), Mrs. Johnson is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) to be accomplished August 2015.
School Operations Manager

Denna Blue-Miller

Mrs. Denna Blue-Miller is the School Operations Manager. Mrs. Blue-Miller graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, she is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Administrative Leadership at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. Mrs. Blue-Miller began her teaching career in 2001, when she taught grades Prekindergarten, 1st, 5th, and 6th grade. After eight years of teaching Mrs. Blue-Miller took on the role of Business Manager at the Central City Cyberschool. In her role as School Operations Manager Ms. Blue – Miller will manage all school operations and work closely with key community partners.
Coordinator of Family and Community Services / CLC Program Director

Maurice Copening

Mr. Maurice Copening is the Coordinator of Family and Community Services / CLC Program Director. Mr. Copening started his career in 2007 at the North Side Y.M.C.A. as a Special Education Paraprofessional. In 2012 Mr. Copening joined the NPLCS team as the Special Education Paraprofessional. Through his experiences he developed extensive skills to support students with disabilities, work with families in difficult situations, and develop community and family partnerships. In his role as Coordinator of Family and Community Services Mr. Copening will work closely with our community, parents, students, and staff. He will act as a liaison between home and school, ensuring our scholars are supported throughout the school and community.
