Debra Lins

Debra Lins has 20 years of experience in traditional public schools, alternative schools, private schools, and international school settings as a school counselor, associate principal, and principal. Prior to joining North Point Lighthouse Charter School as the instructional leader, Debra worked as an international school principal in Beijing and Wuhan, China, in large urban Chinese private schools facilitating full or part campus transition to international schools where Chinese students had the option to study abroad the final two years of high school in partner schools in Michigan. Previously, she served as the principal of an elementary school (K-5), and an alternative school for at-risk and/or alternative learners (6-12+). Debra is a Trainer of Trainers in the TRIBES community building process through Marian University, used throughout schools in the US and abroad and builds on strengths and collaboration. She has also served as a professional school counselor for 14 years in PreK-12 and 7-12 school settings in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Debra began her educational career as a psychology and sociology instructor, student advisor, and GED/HSED examiner for Blackhawk Technical College in Wisconsin. She taught summer school social-emotional enrichment classes and kindergarten readiness, and later worked as the principal of summer school at elementary, alternative and high schools for a number of years. Debra holds a B.A. from University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire, a M.S.Ed in Counselor Education from UW--Platteville and an M.S.Ed in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI, and continues to take classes with regard to best practices in education. She has her school principal and director of curriculum and instruction licenses in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.
Assistant Principal and Director of Teacher Leadership

Lalenunat Johnson

Lalenunat M. Johnson is the Assistant Principal and Director of Teacher Leadership at the North Point Lighthouse Charter School in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Here she provides curriculum support and guidance in teacher growth and development. Lalenunat Johnson has over 14 years of experience in elementary and middle school education in a top performing urban school environment. She began her career in education as a volunteer then in 2003 served as an Educational Assistant and substitute teacher. She later became a full time teacher. As a teacher Mrs. Johnson has taught reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and character education. In 2006, Mrs. Johnson earned an Associate’s degree and in 2007, a Bachelors degree both in Management and Communication, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University Wisconsin. In 2011, she joined Teach for America and served two years as a corps member teacher. In 2013, she earned a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Leadership from Marquette University. Mrs. Johnson joins North Point Lighthouse as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in Education Leadership. The Woodrow Wilson Fellowship recruits and prepares outstanding leaders for schools and districts, with an integrated business and education curriculum, a focus on intensive in-school experience, and ongoing mentoring. Through this fellowship in conjunction with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), Mrs. Johnson is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) to be accomplished August 2015.
School Operations Manager

Denna Blue-Miller

Mrs. Denna Blue-Miller is the School Operations Manager. Mrs. Blue-Miller graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, she is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Administrative Leadership. Mrs. Blue-Miller began her teaching career in 2001, when she taught grades Prekindergarten, 1st, 5th, and 6th grade. After eight years of teaching Mrs. Blue-Miller took on the role of Business Manager. In her role as School Operations Manager Mrs. Blue-Miller will manage all school operations and work closely with key community partners.
