April 30 — Enrollment ends.   

TBA – PBLCS: Lottery held. All parents/guardians receive letters informing them of each child’s status (accepted or wait-listed).

April 23 (Week of) — Parents/guardians must contact the school and notify us of intent to enroll. If we do not hear from you by May 4, your seat will be given to a wait-listed student.

May 7 (Week of ) — Physical enrollment at the school site will occur. (Please note that enrollment will not be official until the student has physically enrolled in the school. Being accepted through the lottery does not constitute physical enrollment.)

A Pine Bluff firefighter explains and demonstrates the use of a thermal imaging camera to our 2nd graders during a visit last Tuesday afternoon.

Principal

Brad Burl

Brad Burl
Mr. Burl has a Master of Education Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art Design from Arkansas Tech University. Mr. Burl is also a reservist for the USAF and recently completed Airman Leadership School. Mr. Burl has been and educator for seven years. HE taught at Rose City Middle School in North Little rock for five years prior to joining the Jacksonville staff as a Founding Teacher. He served as Director of School Culture prior to becoming the Founding Principal of PBLCS.

Dr. Mary Roaf

A native of Pine Bluff, Dr. Roaf served as a Fellow Advisor for Philadelphia Teaching Fellows Program. More recently, she was the Chief Grant Author and Coordinator for Arkansas Community Foundation in Pine Bluff. Dr. Roaf also taught 5th and 6th grade reading as a founding teacher at KIPP: Blytheville in Arkansas and previously taught 7th and 8th grade history in DC. Dr. Roaf is an alumnus of Teach For America and worked on staff in the MS Delta region as the Investment, Community and Execution Group Leader. Dr. Roaf earned her B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, her M.A. in Sociocultural Anthropology from Northern Arizona University, and her Ph.D. in Anthropology, Emphasis in Urban Anthropology and Urban Education from Temple University. She is the daughter of the late Judge Andree Roaf and Dr. Clifton Roaf.
